About Me

Hi! I’m Suzy Levinson. I grew up in Massachusetts, where I spent most of my time reading, dreaming, and making up weird stories on long, boring car rides. These days? Well, I haven’t changed much! I still love getting lost in a good story.

I’m the author of Animals in Pants (Abrams) and Dinos that Drive (Tundra Books). And please allow me to vaguely assure you that I have more children’s books coming out soon!

When I’m not reading or writing, I enjoy taking pictures, watching movies, and sliding around my apartment in socks, singing whatever ridiculous songs pop into my head. I live in New York with my sweet husband and our spicy cat.

WILDLY THRILLING FACTS ABOUT ME

  • Milkshakes are my favorite food AND drink.
  • Before I was a writer, I was an actor! My favorite part about both writing and acting is imagining something from a character’s point of view and finding their voice.
  • I’m the world’s most useless psychic. I’ll think of random things and mention them right before they happen . . . but they’re totally meaningless so no one cares.
  • I was once a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Apparently, I didn’t want to be a millionaire enough. I did okay, though!
  • My cat, Fizzy, is named after Fizzgig, a character in the movie The Dark Crystal. You see the resemblance, right?
  • When I was a kid, my favorite writers were James Marshall, Richard Scarry, Beverly Cleary, E. B. White, and Shel Silverstein. Now that I’m an adult . . . they’re still kind of my favorites.

    Young me! Writing, I think!

  • I like: crisp autumn days, every single animal, making kids laugh, sunsets, evergreen trees, British TV shows, going on cool trips, coming home from cool trips.
  • I don’t like: guacamole, math.
